How do I connect my domain name to my website?

You've got two options when it comes to connecting your domain name with your website on our platform. Before making any of these changes, please don't hesitate to connect with us first to discuss. We can walk you through the process in more detail and help with certain things along the way to ensure the process is smooth.

Note that either option below requires us to add your domain name to your account on our end, so please connect with us first before making any of these changes so that we can discuss timing to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

Option #1 - Manage your own DNS (recommended).

We recommend this option, simply pointing your domain to our server with a couple A Records and hosting your DNS with your domain registrar.

To point your domain to us, you'll simply need to create two A Records for your domain - your domain registrar should provide documentation or support for this:

Record #1:

Type: A Record

Host: domain.com (also known as 'root' or '@')

Value: 23.111.72.118

Record #2:

Type: A Record

Host: www.domain.com (also known as 'www')

Value: 23.111.72.118

Option #2 - We manage your DNS.

With this option, we would manage all of your DNS records for you. There is no charge to this, but we typically don't recommend this. It's often better to host your DNS with your domain registrar where you have full control of everything without relying on a third party (option #1).

That said, if you'd prefer we manage this for you, you'll be pointing your domain name directly to our nameservers, rather than setting up DNS records - your domain registrar should provide documentation or support for this. The two nameservers you will point your domain to are:

ns1.gateseven.com

ns2.gateseven.com

Note: If you choose to point your domain to our nameservers so that we manage your DNS, you will want to contact us first. When you make this change, all of your existing DNS records are lost, so we'll want to make sure we have the necessary records you want to keep set up on our end ahead of time.

This article assumes that you already own a domain name. If you do not, you can purchase one from a variety of Domain Registrars online. If you're unsure, we recommend NameSilo.
